About the 1993 Congress
The Surrey Easter Chess Congress 1993 was held at the Central Library, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, from 9 to 12 April 1993.
The Frank Winter Memorial Open was FIDE rated and attracted 92 competitors. Demetrios Agnos of Richmond won the Open with 6½/7.
The congress reached a record entry of 510 players across seven tournaments, beating the previous Surrey Congress best of 484 set in 1976.
