The Surrey Easter Chess Congress 1988 was held at the Central Library, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, Surrey, from 1 to 4 April 1988.

The Frank Winter Memorial Open attracted 93 competitors and was won by P. G. Large of Mitcham with 6½/7.

S.C.C.U. Championship

The S.C.C.U. Individual Championship was won by Peter Large. The nomination for an S.C.C.U. place in the British Championship was awarded to Mark Lyell on tie-break, as Peter Large was already qualified.
