About the 1982 Congress

The Surrey Easter Chess Congress 1982 was held at the Central Library, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, Surrey, over Easter weekend: 9, 10, 11 and 12 April 1982.

The official Surrey County Chess Association prize winners sheet records the prize winners from the Frank Winter Memorial Open, the Major Tournament, main all-play-all sections and novice events. Red manuscript marks on the source appear to be later prize-fund additions and have not been included here.

The Open was a 7-round Swiss with 84 competitors. The Major Tournament, for players under 150 grading, was also a 7-round Swiss and attracted 112 competitors.
